Visit our Show Gardens

At Swallows Nursery & Plant Centre in Mixbury we have built six fabulous gardens showcasing some of the trees, shrubs, perennials, and flowering bulbs we grow and stock. Many of the plants are grown right here in Mixbury. We hope that our gardens will give inspiration, whether to those new to gardening or the more experienced. Unlike famous shows, our visitors can see the gardens throughout the seasons – for free! Also, the gardens can give you tips about how to maintain your planting, including when to cut back and prune.

The gardens, opened on the 1st July 2023, is a partnership between us here at Swallows, Pitchfork & Pencil – the garden designers, and Topio, the landscapers:

We would like to inspire gardeners with examples of different styles of gardens and planting. The show gardens are just 8m by 4m. Nothing beats seeing a garden for yourself, and on subsequent visits, how it changes throughout the seasons. And of course you can buy the plants and trees from us to re-create your own garden!

Hollie and Andy plan, design and create gardens and landscapes from the smallest border to the grandest garden. They have designed our show gardens to inspire our customers with creative ideas to really make the most of an outdoor space.

Topio Landscapes is a modern landscaping company who aim to provide its clients with the highest standards, quality craftmanship and a personable approach. They have created gardens throughout Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Warwickshire counties, and are creating six exceptional gardens here at Swallows.
